Since the duchy of the Premyslids exerted a variety of influences on Polish territories during the tenth and eleventh centuries,22 some Polish historians infer that the ujazd was borrowed in Poland from its southern neighbour. 23 This view is highly plausible because perambulation was largely a result of the process of feudalisation, a process that occurred much earlier in Great Moravia and Bohemia than in Poland. However, this matter can be seen from another angle. To be sure, feudalisation conditioned the very necessity of the delimitation of boundaries; however, it seems that other factors, native and foreign, may have shaped the form delimitation took in Poland.
